What is Sexology?

Sexology is defined simply as the study or science of sex or sexuality.

Sexology combines many areas of study that relate to sexuality including:

  • Philosophy
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Biology
  • Epidemiology

Some sexologists choose to specialize in specific areas, and may also be credentialed in other areas of study.

Clinical Sexology involves diagnosing and treating sexual concerns and challenges with the goal of helping a client to achieve sexual fulfillment and satisfaction.

Sex Therapy involves training as a therapist and a specialization in sexuality.
